What are the benefits of buying plastic jars? There are many benefits to using plastic jars and lids. Some of the advantages are Read More...more obvious than others but all of these should be considered when choosing your product packaging.
- Cost. The price of raw materials and the energy necessary to produce plastic jars is lower than that of many packaging alternatives. In addition to the lower manufacturing costs, plastic jars are incredibly lightweight, which lowers shipping costs throughout the production, filling and retail pipeline.
- Safety. All of our wholesale plastic jars and lids are food-grade, durable and shatter resistant. Unlike the cheap imported jars on the market, our high-quality plastic jars and lids are made in the USA and conform to food safety and labor standards.
- Durability. Our bulk plastic jars with lids are made of either thick-wall transparent PET or opaque double wall Polypropylene, two of the most durable and versatile categories in the plastic packaging market. Specialty Bottle’s plastic jars and lids are made to last and withstand daily use without incurring dents, dings or scratches you might see with other materials.
- Availability. We keep large quantities of all of our plastic packaging in stock and ready to ship from both of our warehouse locations. Because our wholesale plastic containers are made in the USA, overseas manufacturing, tariffs and transportation issues do not affect our ability to ship orders reliably and promptly. Our long-term relationships with US-based manufacturers mean our customers can expect consistency and uniformity from all of our plastic packaging products.
Are plastic jars food safe? Yes! Specialty Bottle’s food-grade PET and double wall plastic jars can be used to store food goods and many consumable health and wellness products such as vitamins and supplements powders. Free of BPA and heavy metals, PET plastic (polyethylene terephthalate) is perhaps the most widely used type of plastic for the food and beverage industry. PET plastic is durable, non-leaching, non-reactive and can tolerate a wide range of ambient temperatures.
Can you use plastic jars for cosmetics? Yes, our range of bulk plastic jars as well as lip balm containers and mini-deodorant or balm stick tubes are widely used for cosmetic packaging, beauty, haircare, personal hygiene, bath and body care. The inherent versatility of plastic containers and balm tubes makes them a great packaging choice for creating eye-catching, uniquely branded beauty or cosmetic lines. Many of our plastic jars are compatible with sealing discs which are used to keep lotions, balms or masks mess free and fresh inside the body of the jars. Check out our small plastic containers with lids for lip gloss, moisturizers, balms, waxes or powdered products. Specialty Bottle’s clear plastic containers with lids are ideal for showing off the color or texture of contents while our cobalt blue plastic jars or amber plastic jars may be the right choice for items made with essential oils or other light-sensitive ingredients needing extra UV protection.
How do you choose the best plastic jar for your product? The quality look and feel of packaging is the first thing your customer will notice, so take your time and consider these factors:
- Size. All Specialty Bottle plastic jars and containers are listed by volume in ounces. This is important to note because many dry goods such as tea and spices are sold by weight. Solid or semi-solid cosmetics are labeled by weight (pounds and ounces) while liquid products are generally labeled using volume (fluid ounces). More information, including product dimensions, can be found on individual product pages. Specialty Bottle offers wholesale plastic jars in convenient standard sizes ranging from ¼ ounce small plastic jars up to 16 ounce plastic storage jars.
- Shape. Choosing the right plastic jar shape is not simply a matter of taste. Consider how you expect the end user or customer to access the contents inside. Will the product be scooped with a utensil, poured or accessed by hand? Next, you’ll want to think about your label area and design. Do you want a wrap-around label or a simple sticker on the front or top? Retail sales of certain products have strict labeling requirements, so label space may be extremely critical. Yet another factor may be how you’d like to display and ship your products. You may want to lean into neatness and efficiency with a low profile round plastic jar or choose maximum visibility and impact with an oval plastic jar or square plastic jar.
- Color. Lip balm packaging will have different requirements than plastic spice jars, but what else should you consider aside from size and shape? Color and opacity are also critical considerations. Does the product contain light-sensitive ingredients like pharmaceuticals or essential oils? If the answer is yes, you may want to choose an opaque plastic jar like the black double wall jars or white double wall jars. Not only do these polypropylene jars protect against UV degradation, the double wall construction creates an additional layer of protection against moisture and temperature fluctuations. Double wall jars have long been a staple for cosmetic packaging because they help to maintain the potency of high value cosmetic ingredients over the course of their shelf life. If product visibility is important but light sensitivity is also a concern, our amber PET jars and blue PET jars are heavily tinted which provides some UV protection while allowing some transparency.
